Masahiko Sunami is a Media Artist, Sound Engineer, and Event Production Specialist based in Tokyo.
Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Masahiko moved to New York at the age of 12, and lived in the United States for over 30 years. He studied classical music and jazz playing clarinet and saxophone, also studied various world music traditions including Ghanaian drumming, North Indian Hindustani Sarod, and Balinese Gamelan. While studying Electrical Engineering at Brown University, he discovered his passion for electronic music and continued his studies at California Institute of the Arts. There he deepened his artistry in computer music, expanded his repertoire in world music, and started his career in concert production.
Masahiko since worked as a professional live sound engineer in Los Angeles. Over the years, he developed a deep understanding of all assets of event production – including lighting and video – which has enabled him to work as a technical director/production manager for concerts, tours, streaming and esports events in recent years. As a native Japanese speaker, he has worked on many concerts and events for notable Japanese artists and corporate clients.
He also has experience working as a web developer, and developed numerous websites, creating custom WordPress themes for them. This website was designed and created by him, from scratch, using a completely custom Word Press theme.
